Understanding The Gospel Track That You Have Been Given

You were given a little booklet that said, “ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON?”

The answer to that question is no. You or I or anyone is not a good person in the site of God. You may be good in your own estimate just because you don’t do or commit crimes but because our God is holy, according to his own standards and not our standards, you and I are not good people and thus we are called sinners (a transgressor of God’s laws called (the 10 Commandments). Every human being on earth has committed a transgression of God’s law. You only have to commit one sin that will separate you from God for eternity. The 10 Commandments were given to man not because he could keep them. But the 10 Commandments were given to mankind so that mankind would seek God’s son (Jesus Christ) who died in took our place for the punishment of our sins. If we are willing to believe that Jesus came to take our sins and we are willing to repent of them because he took them, then you would be what they call saved from judgment for the sins that you have committed during your life. The 10 Commandments are called The Schoolmaster because it’s supposed to let you know that no matter how good you are, there is no one who was ever born in this world that was able to keep all of the 10 Commandments because the requirement is that you keep all of them.

Let me give you the first two Commandments, and then you can ask yourself a question, can you keep just these two commandments.

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment.

Let me explain the first commandment to you. This commandment is asking you to love God more than you love your family, yourself, anything that you like to do, your spouse and your life as well.

Ask yourself, could you keep that commandment which is the first commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The second commandment says the same thing this time it is talking about people.

As you can see no one could keep those two commandments alone even without the other eight. This is one reason why the 10 Commandments is called the schoolmaster. It is to teach you that you cannot keep them, but you can rely on what Jesus has done at the cross. Jesus died by crucifixion and when he died, he took your sins and the sins of the whole world upon himself. And if you don’t believe it, Jesus kept the whole law. So, ask yourself how could he have died if he kept a whole law when the word of God says only sin causes death. This is how you know he took the sins of the whole world and thus he died because of it and he suffered greatly before he died. He did this so that all mankind would not have to be punished for sin. When Jesus took your sin and you will leave, he did and you repented from sending against God, when you take your last breath on earth, you will see the living God with your own eyes.

8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

These are two of the Scriptures why Christians are not afraid of dying. Because Christians know that when they take their last breath, they will not be in hell. Instead, they will be present with the Lord himself. But if you have not been forgiven your sins by believing on Jesus Christ and because of what he did at the cross and repenting because your sins were taken away, when you take your last breath, you will be in hell.

Remember what I said to you when I gave you the little booklet, I said you have a choice rather than go to heaven or hell. What you have read just now is the reason why it is your choice, and that God doesn’t send anyone to hell. You see your sins have already been forgiven. All you gotta do is receive what Jesus did for you at the cross and then repent from sinning. But then again, that’s your choice. It is not God’s choice because God has already given you your sins through his son Jesus.
